This workshop aims to provide a clear pathway to access the photonic technologies available to researchers in India so that more of our big ideas can be transformed into solutions. This workshop will provide an introductory overview of Photonic technologies available to researchers through guest lectures and hands-on sessions on OptiFDTD and OptiSystem software.
OptiFDTD: OptiFDTD is a powerful simulation tool designed for the comprehensive analysis and design of photonic components. Utilizing the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm, it allows researchers to model wave propagation, scattering, reflection, diffraction, and polarization phenomena in both passive and nonlinear photonic devices. With its user-friendly 3D graphical interface,
OptiFDTD supports the import and export of designs from third-party CAD software, making it an essential tool for modern photonics research. OptiSystem: OptiSystem is an advanced optical communication system design software that enables users to plan, test, and simulate a wide range of optical networks. From local area networks (LAN) to ultra-long-haul systems, OptiSystem provides a versatile platform for the design and optimization of optical links. Its comprehensive suite of tools supports the simulation of various components and systems, making it invaluable for researchers and
engineers working in the field of optical communications.
